Elsewhere
A 7-day creative experiment

Send a small slice of your screen time elsewhere for 7 days.

One (small) project. One week. One tangible thing at the end of it.

Step 1: Your daily screen time

You’ll find this in Settings → Screen Time.

If you’re anything like me, you spend more of your life staring at a screen than you’d like to admit. Elsewhere is a first step toward reframing that: tell it your screen time, pick a project, and follow a simple plan for a week. By the end, you’ll have made something real — and a small win you can point to.

The idea is not to become the next great artist or writer. The idea is just to create something. Stick with it, and by day seven you’ll have:

  1. Something that didn’t exist when the week began.
  2. A clearer sense of where your time and attention actually go.
  3. A new hobby you might enjoy.
  4. A bit more clarity in how you think and speak.
  5. Proof (through experience) that you can send your time wherever you choose.

FAQ

In short, Elsewhere is a 7-day mini challenge: you create something slowly, over the course of a week. Input your screen time, choose the project that appeals to you most (more to come soon!), decide how much time you can realistically commit each day, pay me ;), then follow the daily tasks. By the end of the week you'll have your own keepsake — and, hopefully, the itch to create more.

Matt, who built Elsewhere

Hi, I'm Matt. Tiny experiments have helped me reframe my relationship with screens and tech. The friction I felt at the thought of spending 15 minutes a day creating something, next to the ease with which I'd lose 3 hours to Instagram reels, was telling. So one day I made a deal with myself: draw a sunflower once a day for a week. What happened wasn't just that I got better at drawing — I'd dipped my toes into a long-time interest, and by the end of the week I had a drawing that admittedly was far from Picasso, but it was something that didn't exist before, and it existed because of me and that... felt good. I signed it, framed it, put it on my desk — and that paved the way for dozens more tiny experiments.

Elsewhere exists to show what's possible when you send a small slice of your time toward creation instead of consumption. Holding something in my hands that didn't exist at the start of the week — just because I chose to make it instead of scroll — was a genuine lightbulb moment for me, and it's one I want more people to have too.

Eventually, I'd love to make a living from getting people away from their screens — whatever form that takes. This is my first step toward that much bigger goal, and the £9 is a bit of encouragement along the way.

You absolutely can (and should!) start a tiny experiment of your own, for free. You're under no obligation to spend £9 on this. If you've got the idea, feel free to steal it, make your own version, and go.
